At ALCAT, we are guided by the following goals:

• To assist diplomats and their families in the process of moving to a foreign country or returning home from foreign postings;
  
  
• To impress upon relevant authorities the importance of improving conditions, whenever necessary, and foster the importance of the spouses’ role within the diplomatic structures;
  
  
• To counsel on practical issues related to transitions, to inform and advise on specific challenges and to exchange best practices;
  
  
• To strengthen the ties between groups of spouses and to provide an informal networking platform to accompany its members throughout a posting.
  
  

ALCAT is a member of EUFASA (European Union Foreign Affairs Spouses Association). This membership serves as a point of entry for larger networking. Moreover, it allows all members to assess and compare what other European countries are doing in support of their diplomats and their families.

All diplomatic spouses associations are multi-cultural, and Luxembourg is no exception. Our association has a truly international dimension, with a membership covering countries all around the world (e.g. China, Russia, Vietnam, Hungary, Spain, France, Belgium, Sweden, Ghana, Chile, Peru  – to mention a few).
